The Rovellotti winery is a family-led business with a winemaking pedigree stretching out over six-hundred years.
When it comes to embracing natural winemaking, this winery has been ahead of its time. Since the 1980s, the Rovellottis have been collaborating with the agricultural faculty at the University of Milan to achieve zero chemical use.
Led by brothers Antonello and Paolo, it is rooted in Ghemme, a comune in the Italian region Piedmont, located on the river Sesia and about 80 km northeast of Turin. Ghemme is the home of the Rovellotti name. Of the fewer than 200 people in the world who carry the Rovellotti family name, 66 live in and around Ghemme.
The family vineyards are spread across fifteen hectares, and are found in the Baraggiola zone of Ghemme, the southernmost sector of the appellation. Baraggiola is further divided into four separate vineyard sites: Valle d’Enrico (Erbaluce) Valplazza (Nebbiolo) Colline Novarese bottling; ‘Chioso dei Pomi’ prime site as early as 1600, in which the Nebbiolo used for the Ghemme is grown.
With a focus on a deep seeded rich history with environmental and ecological elements combined, these incredible wines maintain a natural balance of wine making beauty and expression.
