Wines by Andrea and Severino Oberto
Varietals and key wines include; ‘La Morra Barolo’, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’alba, Dolcetto
The Erbaluna farm sits within the grounds of the winery owned by brothers Andrea and Severino Oberto. They continue their family tradition on south facing vineyards set on steep hills of clay and limestone and layers of ancient sandstone.
The family says its deep attachment to the vocation of winemaking is what drives their respect for the climatic balance and the natural predisposition of the Langa soils.
The farm introduced organic methods in 1985 and in 1993, once the wines were officially certified organic, this change was reflected on the labels. During this time, the Oberto family, together with a small group of Piedmontese and Tuscan winemakers, became known as ’organic pioneers’, sharing expertise, goals and passions.
The Oberto brothers produce medium to full-bodied red wines, in keeping with local tradition. The best known being Barolo della Vigna Rocche, other DOC wines are Barbera, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto.
Wines are fermented and aged differently depending on the varietal. Barbera is fermented and aged in stainless steel, others are made in hectolitre and tonneaux barrels, some dating back to 1915.
This family run winery retains a close connection with nature and elegantly combines clean farming practices with local tradition.
The Barbera for instance is vinified in stainless to maintain a great drinkability and the Barolo’s are made so that they can still be appreciated for amazing character and drunk young or after many years. Delicious fruit driven wines.
